What modifications are available for your bike? Below are all the options that I can think of. If I have left something out send me an E-mail detailling your needs.

Frame Repairs

Steel frames are most easily repaired. If a magnet sticks to your frame then it is probably made from steel. 4130 chromoly is a type of steel. If your frame is not steel it may not be easily repaired. Aluminum frames can usually be welded but may be slightly weaker than before.
Most cracks and even breaks can be repaired as long as things are not too bent out of shape. If your headtube or bottom bracket shell is cracked or damaged you can probably kiss it goodbye or end up spending more on the frame than it is worth. Usually cracks and breaks can be reinforced with gussets.
Extra headtube reinforcement to prevent ovalizing is also available. This procedure is not the same for all frames but usually can be performed to save the front end of an otherwise good frame.
If you have an undesireable bump or lump that you would like removed, I can do that. Most cable stops and guides will be removed with little or no trace.
Paint

I can send your frame out to have it professionally sand blasted and recoated. If you are having welding done then there are going to be bare spots on your frame. It is a good idea to take the opportunity to repaint at the same time. Actually I haven't been using paint lately. Instead I have been getting powder coat. Powder coat is more durable and looks just as good as a well done paint job. Check out some of the powdercoat colors.
 Replace Dropouts

If you have a great old bike and don't want to throw it away because of a bent or broken dopout, you may want to replace the entire droputs(s). I can match existing ones or you can send a sketch of how you would like them to be shaped. I usually make dropouts from 4130 plate in three thicknesses: 3/16", 1/4", and 3/8" thick. 3/16" dropouts should never see pegs while 1/4" and thicker are especially suited for pegs.
 Brake Upgrades

On most steel frames brake studs can be added to the seatstays or chainstays. The two traditional kinds are 990 studs (also known as: U-brake or roller cam style) and cantilever studs(also known as: Vee-brake style). Some bikes can even be fitted with disk brake mounts. Custom cable routing of all types is also available.
 Misc.

Some frames are compatible with welded on built-in chain tensioners. Thick style welded-on tensioners push instead of pull and are designed for use with pegs.
In order to get an estimate for work on a frame please send your frame to Thick Bikes for evaluation. You will be contacted with a final estimate before any work begins. Thank you. Please Email me if you have any questions.
