How To Order A Thick Gutless Post

Gutless seat posts are made on a custom only basis. The preferred way to assure customer satisfacion is to base the measurements on an assembled seat, guts and post that is provided by you the customer. So all you have to do is undo the seat binder bolt or quick release, wipe the grease off and send it. If your seat is already trashed DO NOT send it. Seats with the rails already bent will not be accepted. If your seat is not in good condition you must buy a new seat and send that on your seat post. If your post is bent replace the post with a straight one. Make sure that you are happy with both the angle of your seat and the fore-aft positioning because once the Gutless Post is made you will not be able to change it. You will get your old post and guts back with your completed Gutless Post. The old (or new) seat will have the rails removed and will come back attached to the gutless unit.

This service is primarily designed for U.S. made freestyle/BMX and DH bikes which usually have American sized seatposts like 7/8"(22.2mm), 1" (25.4mm), 1 1/8" (28.6mm), 1 1/4" (31.7mm) or 1 3/8" (34.9mm). Because we are in America the chromoly here also comes in American sizes. Mountain bikes tend to have metric sizes and can be fitted only with shims or with custom turned posts. Luckily several serious downhill companies use American sizes so be sure to check. Shims are usually available to convert the 1" size to the sizes listed below.

26.0mm, 26.2mm, 26.4mm, 26.6mm, 26.8mm, 27.0mm, 27.2mm, 28.6mm, 29.8mm, 30.0mm, 30.2mm, 30.8mm, 30.9mm, 31.6mm, 31.4mm, 31.8mm

Summary:
  1. Take post out of frame with seat still attached.
  2. Wipe off grease.
  3. Find a box big enough to pack it without moving or removing seat from post.
  4. Pack the seat/post in the box so that they will not get damaged or move during shipping. Include a check or money order for $95 made out to Thick Bikes. Also include special instructions if necessary.
  5. Send to Thick Bikes, 62 South 15th St. Pittsburgh, PA 15203
Considerations before you send:
  • Is your seat tilted to the correct angle?
  • Is your seat in the correct fore/aft position?
  • Is your post the correct length? Would you like it to be shorter or longer? Measure seatpost length from the top of the seat padding.
