This post combines a gutless with a piece of toptube that clamps into the rest of the toptube on a CPC Patriot DH rig (below). It is overbuilt even for Thick standards to hold up to severe abuse. The section of toptube and the actual seat post are made from 1 3/8" x .120" wall. The threaded tabs are cut out of 3/8" thick 4130 chromoly plate. The 3/8" - 16 bolts that exceed grade 8 thread nicely into the SDG seat and will be locked in place with hex nuts agaist the 4130 plate.
Nothing trashes seat rails and seat guts like a bike cartwheeling into a tree. Downhilling is notorious for bike component destruction. Most MTB seats and posts aren't made with tree impacts in mind. Thick removes the weenie rails and clamp and replaces it with welded 4130 chrome-moly tubing. The fore/aft position and angle of tilt are forever fixed so this product is strictly custom. Should the seat become worn and need changing, it can be easily removed and replaced with the same or a similar seat by removing two bolts.

This Post was made for a CPC Patriot. To the right is the hardware before welding. The 4130 chunks are 3/8" thick to hold up to severe abuse. Below are the side view the underside view of the same post. Unless the bike is upside down you would never notice the Gutless Post. It just quietly does its job out of sight and out of mind. One less thing to worry about.
